For the uninhabited part, the gilf kebir plateaux will be our destination covering its eastern, southern, western and northern sides. Following the tracks of the pioneer explorers such as Almasy and Clayton we will drive through the difficult rocks, dunes and passes to reach the most important sites of this great desert barrier.
The rock paintings of swimmers discovered by Almasy in 1933 and made famous by the English patient movie are a remarkable site on this route.
Not only famous rock art but also a relatively new discovery in 2002 of the Mestikawi-Foggini cave represents one of the most interesting and well preserved rock art sites in the whole of the Sahara, a huge cave with hundreds of drawings Still in the study by scientists to reveal the meaning of its existence and the relation between its art creators along with the pharaonic people.
Also Jebel Uweinat will be another main destination with its special sand stone formations, acacia trees and its location in the centre of the eastern Sahara, it’s like a forgotten oasis, its cattle period rock art drawings are another high light on our route. Nature also offers us a unique phenomenon as we see in the silica glass field, Our adventure builds up as we master our strong cars off road capabilities challenging the giant dunes of the great sand sea while we navigate our way until we reach siwa oasis in the north. Beside the beauty and diversity of landscape and the open air museum of prehistory rock art drawings , this expedition offers the traveller a unique desert experience in the company of an authentic Bedouin crew who are well trained to make the camping time under the desert stars a pleasurable and memorable life time experience .
